Sarah Acconcia is the founder of Juniper Culinary Apothecary, a purveyor of tea and spice blends with a holistic health focus. Since its inception in 2015, Juniper has built a reputation for quality, hand-blended teas and herb/salt combinations that bring herbalism into the kitchen. Her products can be found at Taken, Walther Gardens, B. Willow, along with other Baltimore retailers and pop up markets throughout Baltimore. Baltimore Fishbowl called Juniper a “very special spice, tea and superfood shop …” A holiday gift report from CBS Baltimore noted it was the perfect place “… to shop for unusual but desirable goodies …”
A former executive chef at multiple award winning restaurants, she is also a fierce advocate for the wellness of service industry workers. She is now a farmer, growing herbs for Juniper products as well as commercial cut flowers.
A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), she is a multidisciplinary artist and lifelong gardener with a particular interest in flowers and herbs.
Born in New York City, Acconcia is the child of a Foreign Service Officer and lived overseas for much of her childhood. She lives on a farm just outside of Baltimore.
